Simply Santa

I love the lodge look of Simply Stories - Simple Vintage Lodge Collection. I think my favorite pattern from the 6" x 8" paper pad is the red, green and black plaid. I also really like the pieces from Simply Stories - Simple Vintage Lodge Collection - Ephemera - Bits and Pieces.

Even though there is a smaller version of the Santa on this card included with the Bits and Pieces pack, I wanted to make the Santa the focal point on my card. So I fussy cut him out of the patterned paper and layered him on a piece of lighter green paper and then fussy cut it again. I placed the Santa to the left of a red piece of paper cut it to 4" x 5.25". I added a 1" x 3.75" piece of my favorite plaid paper to the right side.

I felt like the card needed a little texture and dimension. I put a couple of eyelets in the plaid paper and threaded a beige twine through and tied it in a bow. I popped up the word Santa and the Snowflake from the Bits and Pieces pack. I wasn't able to use the whole snowflake because it just felt like too much, so I cut the top off and placed it in between the plaid strip and the Santa cut out.

I used a standard sentiment in the card. I always like to add a little something from the front on the inside to tie it all together.

Wishing you a blessed Christmas season and all the best for the New Year.

The Brilliant Christmas Plant

I created this card for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #138. I had never participated in a Card Sketch challenge before, so it took me a little bit of time to figure out what I wanted the do. I wanted to have the upper card of the card to be bold but still allow the sentiment be the main focus. I looked through the Lawn Fawn store and unfortunately the only die that I had in my collection that would work, was the Stitched Poinsettia.

I cut my poinsettias out of Guava cardstock and a red printed pattern for an old Lawn Fawn paper collection called Let It Shine. I wanted to add a little color to the edges so I used Ranger's Distress Oxide in Fired Brick for the patterned paper and Lumberjack Plaid.

I used Nobile Fir card stock for the leaves and touched them up a little with Ranger's Distress Oxide in Rustic Wilderness. I also felt like a need a little more greenery so I used the Christmas Garland die to cut out some springs.

I wanted the placement of my poinsettias to be in the upper right corner. If I had left them full sized, there wouldn't be enough room on the rest of the card for the sentiment and other pieces. I drew a right angle on a piece of Vanilla Malt cardstock, and laid out my two lower flowers knowing that I was going to have to cut them to fit. I glued them down and then cut the paper 4" x 5.25".

I had a few scraps from the same collection in off-white, so I cut them .75" x 1.75" and

.75" x 1.5" and layered them on Gold Sparkle paper cut at 1" x 2" and 1" x 1.75". I cut the Noel, from the Winter Big Scripty dies, using both the gold sparkle paper and the red patterned paper. I layered my my whole 4" x 5.25" piece on a piece of gold sparkle cut at 4.24 x 5.5", and then placed it on a card base cut from the vanilla malt cardstock.

I think that it would be fun to play around with different colors of cardstock to create the same card.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Holidays!

Deck The Forest With Boughs Of Holly

All together now............Deck The Forest With Boughs of Holly. Fa la la la la .......la la la la !

Check out these mice working together to hang a bow on the wreath. I used mice from Lawn Fawns Mice on Ice and Snowball Fight. When I started setting them up, I wasn't sure if I wanted the mouse on the top reaching to hang a bow or a mouse stretching to lift the wreath, so I stamped both.

The copic markers I used are as follows;

I inked the small part of the background with Ranger's Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Tumbled Glass. I used Lawn Fawns Snow Flurries stencil with silver metallic ink. I cut the Stitched Hillside Backdrop out of white patterned paper from the Let It Shine paper collection. Before I added all the elements, I thought that it needed some more background, so I cut out the Forest Border from gray cardstock. I retrospect, if I were to make this card again, I would leave out this step. There is enough going one in this card that it really isn't needed. I cut the Birch Trees out of a very light gray cardstock. I cut the Mini Wreath and Christmas Garland out of green card stock and used red glitter cardstock for the bow and berries. The ornaments are cut out from Lawn Fawn's Simon Says STAMPTEMBER set, Nutty or Nice.

Here's a peak at the inside.

This was a really fun card to make and I hope you enjoy it also. Seasons Greetings friends!

This card was the challenge winner for the Lawn Fawn Challenge Blog Challenge #137! Woo Hoo!
