Hello friends! It's just about that time of year where we celebrate the 4th of July. One of my favorite childhood memories was having a BBQ and watching my dad shoot off fireworks when it got dark. My brothers and I liked to play with sparklers too.
I am trying to get more comfortable with my Glimmer Hot Foil Platform. I was really excited to heat the Lawn Fawn did Fireworks Hot Foil Plates for their May Mini release. I really wanted to do a 4th of July card using red, silver and blue foil. It took me a few tries to get it like I wanted it. I started with white Hammermill 100lb Cardstock cut to 5.75" x 5.75". I started by laying out the individual fireworks where I wanted them on my paper and then taped them in place with Best Ever Craft Tape. I cut out pieces of foil and placed them in between the plate and the card stock, making sure that the foil side is up and covering all the parts of the plate. This worked best for me because I had a better hold for the plates when I flipped it over on the platform. Once I got the first three fireworks done, I did the same process to add fireworks elsewhere on the cardstock.
Once I was happy with the fireworks placement, I cut the cardstock to 5.25" x 4" using the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables. I then used Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide to add color. I speckled silver metallic watercolor paint to add dimension along with watered down Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide. I cut out the star using the Outside In Stitched Star Stackables. I trimmed out the star with blue glitter cardstock using the Stitched Star Frame.
I cut the letters out of silver and red glitter cardstock using Oliver's Stitched ABC's and 123"s. I used the Hearts and Stars Skinny Tag to cut out stars from the silver, red and blue glitter cardstock and then glued them around the card for extra sparkle.
For the inside of the card, I hot foiled a couple more fireworks and stamped the sentiment using Celebration Scripty Sentiments.
I hope that you are enjoying the summer so far. It has been really rainy in Colorado, which is a good thing. Thanks for stopping by!
Sandy
