Hello! I was seeing a lot of advertisements for New Tim Holtz's Halloween products and became a little curious about the the mica sprays. I absolutely love playing with the Distress Oxides, so, I spent a little bit of time on You Tube watching some of his past videos and decided to step out of my comfort zone and play around with them. Of course when I get a bee in my bonnet I need to start on it immediately. The only place in town that had the sprays was JoAnn's so I went there and bought the only two packages they had in stock.
Since most of the colors were more "fall", I thought I would do a fall themed card. I used cardstock in Canned Pumpkin, Paper Bag, No. 2 Pencil and Nobile Fir. I cut a piece off of each piece and sprayed a little bit of Jack-O-Lantern, Flickering Candle, Burning Ember, Harvest Moon on each piece. I let the ink dry in between adding another color so they wouldn't bleed together.
I used the Small Stitched Leaves dies and just cut out a whole bunch of leaves because I wasn't sure how many or which ones I was going to use. I had a piece of matte gold metallic cardstock that I used for the Fruit Basket.
For the card front, I cut a piece of Canned Pumpkin cardstock 4" x 5.25" I used the same sprays in the same way that I did on the paper for the leaves. I used the second largest Reversed Stitched Scalloped Square Windows to cut out the opening. The paper in the opening of the card is Vanilla Malt. I used the Woodgrain Hot Foil Plate with Copper Glimmer Foil. I did use a little Forest Moss Distress Oxide Ink to tone down the whiteness of the paper.
I used gold embossing powder on Paper Bag cardstock. The stamp sets that I used are: Thanks Thanks Thanks and Scripty Autumn Sentiments.
I was really pleased with the way this card turned out. I played a little more later with some the purples and greens and I will have them on some Halloween cards in the future. What I think I like the most about the sprays is that you can make any paper a shimmer paper, so that really opens up your possibilities.
If you have tried these before let me know what you think. As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
Sandy
