Merry Stitched Ornaments

Hello! Oh dear... I may need an intervention. I am having so much fun with these dies from Lawn Fawn.

As I was working on my previous card, I got to thinking that you could easily turn the Embroidery Hoop or any of the add ons into an ornament by using the top piece from the Stitched Ornaments Die. It fits perfectly.

I added beads and sequins to these snowflakes this time. I used the drawings on the Embroider Hoop Snowflake Add on web page for inspiration.

For the sentiment, I used the Scripty Merry die with a black shimmer paper layered on top of silver glitter paper.

Stay tuned. I have plans for the scrap hearts that were from cutting out the glitter hoops.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you did something that brought you joy today!!!

Wishing You Joy

Hello friends. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving holiday if you celebrated it. It was very quiet in our house. We got a little bit of snow, but it has been very cold the last few day.

It has been a little bit since I have played with Lawn Fawn's cute little mice. The current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #161 is Holiday Critters. I already entered one card, but I thought that I would make another one for the challenge.

When Lawn Fawn came out with the Embroidery Hoop, I wasn't very sure that I would use it, but I went ahead and ordered it. Of course each time they offered a new hoop add on, I always added it to my basket. Finally today, I was inspired to use the Embroidery Hoop Snowflake Add On.

The little mice from Sew Very Mice have been very busy making Christmas dresses for the holidays but not too busy to forget about hanging their stockings for Santa to fill. In order to make the little guys more festive, I used the Santa hats from Cheery Christmas and Ugly and Bright to add to the mice.

I used a couple of the new releases for the sentiments. I used Scribbled Sentiments for the main sentiment and found that the Little Snow Globe Add On fit perfectly in the little embroidery hoop. I used red heat embossing powder.

The background paper is from a previous released paper called Knit Picky. I didn't have a 12" x 12" sheet, so I used paper from a 6" x 6" pad and pieced it in the center because I knew the hoop would cover most of the seam. I like the subtle print - it just add a little warmth and interest. I used a coordinating piece for the "fabric" in the hoop also.

I have to say, that I really enjoyed stitching the snowflake and I plan on doing many more in the future.

Thanks for stopping by. As always, I hope you have an amazing day.

Simply Celebrate Christmas

Hello! Happy Thanksgiving a few days early. This year, we are celebrating on Friday. The Thanksgiving meal is my favorite meal to fix all year. Depending on who is doing what with which family, I have made two dinners in one week to celebrate it with the different families when we have had to accommodate different work schedules.

This card was created for Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #161 - Holiday Critters.

The background of the card was ink blended with Distress Oxide Ink in Chipped Sapphire and Salty Ocean. I speckled the background with white opaque acrylic for the "snow".

I couldn't decide which critters to use from the Simply Celebrate Winter Critters stamp set, so I decided to use a few from three different ones. Of course, then I had to use the Large Slimline With Sliders. For the the litttle critter sentiments, I used the Simply Celebrate Winter Critters Add On.

The critters were colored with Copic markers in the following colors:

N1, N2, N3, N4, N6, B21, B24, B24, YR01, YR04, E31, E33, E35, E53, E55, E57, R20, R21, R22, R29

I used the rectangle from the Scalloped Box Card Pop Up for the packages. I also used the little pieces that are the posts for the banner for the ribbon on the package from that same die. I centered the ribbon and bow on the rectangle and then trimmed it to 1" and an 1/8" tall. The bow is from the Merry Mistletoe die. The little trees are from the Build A Snow Globe die. The ornaments in the snow are from the Christmas Palm Tree die. The gingerbread, candy canes and wreath are from the Build A House Gingerbread Add On die.

I have just recently started making slimline cards, so I don't have a lot of the border dies.....yet. For the Forest Border die, I just made sure that the I cut it twice, with it joining under the reindeers. The snow in the foreground is cut with the Stitched Hillside Border. I just lined up the die a couple of times to create the length I needed. I used the Sandy Beach Accents to cut openings in the snow so I could bury some of the elements to add interest to the foreground.

This turned out to be a fun little Christmas card. Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a nice Thanksgiving Holiday if you celebrate it and if you don't, I hope you have a fantastic day!

Mele Kalikimaka

Hello! Every time I hear this song I think of Christmas Vacation when Clark is thinking about the swimming pool he is going to put in his backyard. I don't know about you, but our family has watched that movie at least 25 times. It is definitely a classic in our household.

This card was created for Lawn Fawnatic's Challenge #160 - Inspired By Your Favorite Holiday Movie Or Song.

There wasn't much to this card. I used Range Distress Oxide Inks and stencils for the background. For the sand, I used the Hillside Stencils with Tea Dye and Vintage Photo. The waves were created with the the Ocean Wave Stencil and Tumbled Glass. The sunset was a blend of Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry.

The beach house is the Build A House and the Build A House Beach Add On. I used White Woodgrain Cardstock and used Copic markers to color in the window and door frames and shutters. The Christmas lights and wreath are from the Build A House Christmas Add On. The palm tree is the Christmas Palm Tree.

I used Henry Jr's ABC's for the sentiment. It is heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

As you can see, that's a pretty quick little card to make. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

For Unto Us A Child Is Born

Hello friends! I love gnomes. Not all gnome though....I am not very fond of ones where you can see their eyes unless they are super cute but those are few and far between.

My favorite gnome stamps are from Trinity Stamps. Their little gnomes have the most personality. When I saw the new Gnometivity Stamp Set and the Good Tidings Stamp Set, I just had to have them. I had so much fun coloring them. At first I thought that the Baby Jesus was my favorite because you could see his little feet and toes but then the Shepherd is sporting a vest and scarf along with his braided beard. But what about those handsome Three Kings? So in a nutshell, I guess I don't have a favorite. All the coloring was done with Copic markers. My backgrounds are Ranger Distress Oxides.

Background: Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Tumbled Glass

Background: Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar

Background: Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch and Shaded Lilac

Background: Wilted Violet, Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar

For the stamp sets that I know I am going to use multiple times or if I have used a color combinations that I like, I like to keep a record of what colors I use. Mona Toth has a download for a worksheet that I use to do that. You can go to her website, www.craftbymona.info to download blank copies. I run them off on the paper I use to do my blending to get a good representation of what I did.

I hope you enjoy these little friends as much as I do and maybe be inspired to make a few cards of your own.

Thanks for stopping by and as always, I hope you have a great day!!!!!!

Home For The Pawlidays

Hello my crafty card making friends. I was supposed to be gone all day today, but fortunately those plans fell through and I was able to stay home and spend some time in my "zen den".

I really like Lawn Fawn's interactive cards and I especially like the Magic Picture Changer - it is my favorite. I wanted to make a Christmas card so as I was thumbing through my stamps I saw the Home For The Pawlidays, from the Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn Stamptember collaboration and I wondered if the dog house was the same size as the one from Lawn Fawn's Yappy Birthday. They aren't exactly the same but they were closed enough so I decided to use those two sets to make this card. In retrospect, I really just created extra work for myself because the dog house was the only piece from the Yappy Birthday set and I could have totally done the same card without doing a picture changer. It is still a fun card to give and receive though.

I used Copic markers for all the coloring. I used the following colors:

G07, YG09, YG67, E31, E34, E35, E55, E57, E59 Y08,Y17, YR20,YR21,YR23,YR24, R05,R17,R29, CO-C6

I ink blended the background paper, the Magic Picture Add On and the Magic Picture pieces with Blueprint Sketch and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink. I speckled all the pieces with white opaque acrylic paint.

I used the small snowflake dies from the Winter Wonderland Window and the Snow Flurries Backdrop to cut out snowflakes from Pixie Dust Sparkle Cardstock. For the sentiment, I used the Merry Christmas Line Border die.

I colored a whole bunch of treats, toys and bones to add to the base of the picture changer. Those two puppies sure got quite the haul or "howl".

I hope you had a great day and thanks for stopping by.

You're The Marshmallows To My Cocoa

Hello! Lawn Fawn has some really cute tea pots and cups in their collections. I made this card and another one a few weeks ago when I thought that we might be heading into hot cocoa and hot tea weather.

I am in love with the Favorite Flannel collection. I think all of the colors are just so yummy. If they were an actual flannel, I would make a rag quilt out of them. I used the Outside In Stitched Heart Stackable to cut out the background for this card.

For this card, I used the Thanks A Latte stamp set. The Copic markers used are:

B91, B93, B95, RV11, RV13, RV14, E30, E31, E33, E35, R14, R17, R29

I used the Scripty Cheers die for the sentiment. The hearts above the cups are cut from cardstock using the Hearts & Stars Skinny Tags .

These two little cups are just so cute don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are well and that you are able to do something this week that brings you joy!

Warm Winter Wishes

Hello! Would you like a cup of tea? I am a herbal tea drinker. I have never really acquired much of a taste for black tea or green tea. What kind do you prefer?

For this card, I used the Magic Iris Beehive Add On for the body of the teapot. All you have to do to turn it into a teapot is cut off the bottom rib and then add the top, handle and spout from the Stitched Teapot. I also cut out the little plate from the Stitched Teapot die set and set it to the side, For the cookies on the plate, I used the flowers from the same die set, cut them out of cream colored cardstock and used some light brown marker to "toast" the edges.

The sentiment is Magic Holiday Messages heat embossed with gold metallic embossing powder.

I used the Stitched Trails Hot Foil Plate with Gold Glimmer Hot Foil for the steam coming out of the teapot.

To give the card a holiday feel, I used the new Holly Leaves Border.

This is a very quick card to make. and it doesn't require a whole lot of supplies or dies. I used a lot of scrap patterned paper for all of the cut out pieces.

Thank you for stopping by and as always, I hope you are well.
