Hello! This card brings back all kinds of memories for me. When I was a young girl, maybe around 4 or 5 years old, my Grandpa used to let me help him water his garden. He had a metal watering can and he would fill it up just enough that I could carry it but then he had to help me tip it so that water could come out. Both he and my Grandma loved to be outside. He tended the garden and she took care of the flowers. This card reminds me of them. They were such a sweet couple.
I wanted to turn the new Watering Can from Lawn Fawn into a little house for my mice friends. I cut it out from a piece of gray paper from the Spring Fling patterned paper collection from the past. I touched up the edges with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink. I used the door from the Build A House Gingerbread Add On to cut out the door. I had a scrap of Strawberry Frosting Spiffy Speckles for the door and a piece of Ripe Banana Spiffy Speckles for the inside of the door. Since the watering the can has an opening in the top, I decided that it would be cute to put the top of a carrot coming out of it. I used the carrot from the new Stitched Root Veggies die set. For the carrot, I used a scrap of Griffin Spiffier Speckles. I took a little Spiced Marigold Distress Oxide Ink to the edges to add some dimension and interest to it. The carrot green is a scrap of Pesto Spiffy Speckles touched up with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink.
For the background, I used the Grassy Stencil with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Ink. I speckled the grass with some watered down Mowed Lawn to add a little dimension to the grass. The sky was inked using the Cloudy Stencil along with Broken China Distress Oxide Ink. I spritzed it with a little bit of water and then speckled it with watered down Broken China to add a little more interest to the sky. I glued a Little Farm Fence Border right at the grass line to add a "farm" look to the card.
My little gardening friends are from the new Veggie Happy set. I love this set because there are some many little pieces that you can really create a super cute scene.
I used Copic markers in the following colors:
- E35, E37, E59
- RV66, RV69
- B21, B23
- R02, R24, R29
- Y06, Y18
- G09, G14
The sentiment is from the Henry's Build a Sentiment: Spring. I can't tell you how exiting this stamp set is to me. It is just perfect to build just the right sentiment. No more going through all my stamp sets looking for just the right sentiment and then having to cut them apart to make them work. I hope Lawn Fawn does more of these in the future.
Welp...there it is! Such a fun and cute card. It was quick to make and makes me think of my sweet Grandma and Grandpa.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful day!
Sandy
