I created this card for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #167 - Spring Fling. The stamp sets that I used are Toadlly Awesome and Simply Celebrate Spring. The dies that I used are Bayou Backdrop and the Grassy Hillside Borders.
For the background on this card, I wanted to create either a beautiful sunrise or sunset. I the sky area, Distress Oxide Ink in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, and Picked Raspberry. I started by placing the Mustard Seed in the middle and then I blended my way out with Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry. I spritzed it with water to give a little texture and interest.
The grassy area was cut out of white cardstock with the Grassy Hillside Border. I inked the paper with Twisted Citron and the touched up the edges with Mowed Lawn. The little pond was also cut from white cardstock and blended with Mermaid Lagoon, Broken China and just a wee bit of Cracked Pistachio.
I cut the Bayou Border Backdrop from Cilantro cardstock and then touched it up with Rustic Wilderness to soften the color a little.
When the Toadally Awesome stamp set was released, I had colored a whole bunch of the frogs, lily pads and cattails. Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of the colors that I used, I do that quite often when I am working on a card that way I have extras for future cards. It is kind of nice when that happens because it sure makes making a card very quick.
I wanted to glue the cattails and the log down before I adhered the backdrop because I felt like the hanging vines need to be in the foreground. I used foam dots to pop up the frogs, water lily and the mosquitos.
For the sentiment, I used some of the inked paper that I had left over after I cut out the inked background. I heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder. I am really glad that I had that little bit left.
These little frogs are just so dang cute!
Thank you for stopping by and as always, I hope you have a terrific day!
Sandy
