Freezin' Season

Hello! Hello!  I hope this blog finds you warm and cozy.

Today I have a card that was created with the Frost Bite stamp set from Trinity Stamps.  I bought this set almost a year ago and finally sat down to play with it.

This card has a special secret..... it lights up!  When I first saw this little igloo cafe, it reminded me of the little buildings set up for ice skating or a winter festival.  I decided that I would light up the window with a single light from Pear Blossom Press.  This was the first time I used one of their products and I am just in love!  Sooooooo ....much easier than Chibitronics.

This card is 5.5" x 5.5". For the background on this card, I used the Hillside Stencil from Lawn Fawn to help me place the snow drifts.  I used Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink to lay in the drifts.  The sky was blended using Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch.  In order to help create the feeling of nighttime, I used Black Soot around the outside edges of the card.  I spattered the background with watered down acrylic paint to create the illusion of snowflakes.

The sentiment along with the snowflakes are from Freezin' Family stamp set.  I heat embossed them using white embossing powder.  The little "Press Here" is from Lawn Fawn's Push Here stamp set.

All my little friends and their igloo were colored with Copic markers in the following colors:

  • C0, C3, C6, C9
  • E31, E34, E37
  • Y02, Y06, Y18
  • V01, V04, V15
  • B32, B63, B66
  • RV02, RV04, RV06
  • RV14, RV25, RV69
  • YG00, YG03, YG17
  • Y19, YR04, YR07
  • B21, B12
  • BG000, BG10, BG13

The first step to adding the light is to adhere the igloo to the inked background.  Then using an Xacto knife, cut out the window opening making sure to go through both layers.  Once that is cut open, then you will need to figure out where you want the light to show through the window and then stamp the "press here" stamp where the button is to activate the light is on the card. Use double sided adhesive to hold it in place.  Add foam tape to the back of the inked background making sure not to have any of it show through the window opening.  Adhere the foam taped  background to the colored cardstock.

This is just a delightful card!  I like that it could be used for Christmas or just a winter themed card.  If you would like more details on the process of making this card, you can go to my YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you aren't freezin' this season.
